Slickware

PreviousRoboticsNextG.O.B.L.I.N. (Gremlin's OGRE Basics: Living in Neuralware)

Last updated 1 year ago

The behavior of a custom is primarily decided by the level of AI that it can hold (See ).

Slickware that uses AI must be found, bought, created, or upgraded to the level of AI they want to hold. Upgrading the AI capabilities takes just as long and costs just as much as creating the Slickware from scratch. The AI must be created, found, or purchased separately (See ). This means that creating AI powered Slickware is a multi-step process that can create opportunities for adventure hooks and cooperation between players.

This also requires physical removal, not just the removal of software. AI embodied in a host becomes dependent on the physical body of the user. This requires . All of the health benefits and risks included with surgery occur for the host, and if the surgeon fails their surgery roll, the AI is destroyed, so attempting to remove a sentient Slickware from a host can lead to the death of the user and the AI.
