Another suggestion in the Mothershup 1e Warden's Operations Manual is to eliminate all Health and to only track Wounds for characters. This eliminates rolling for damage, so Combat moves even faster, and the is reduced.

Character Creation

Since all damage is dealt in Wounds, it is suggested that you modify the how you generate Stats and Saves during character creation to give players a better chance.

  • Roll 3d10 + 35 for Stats

  • Roll 3d10 + 20 for Saves

All characters should also received an extra Ablative Wound as suggested by the Warden's Operations Manual. An Ablative Wound is a Wound that automatically heals whenever you have .

Damage

A successful attack automatically deals at least 1 Wound of damage. In order to convert between damage dice and Wound damage use the following conversion.

1d5, 1d10, 2d10, or fixed damage <=20 = 1 Wound
3d10, 4d10, or fixed damage >20 = 2 Wounds

Armor

Armor works differently when using only Wounds. If a piece of armor provides any Damage Reduction, it reduces damage by 1 Wound. If a piece of clothing provides any Armor Points, it protects from 1 Wound of damage before breaking.

Restoring Health

Since there is no health, players are not able to recover health without seeking treatment for Wounds. This means that PCs can only restore health through the following four methods:

  1. Ablative Wound recovery

  2. Paid Medical Treatment

Designer Notes

These guidlines are for game designers who seek to create Panic Engine games with simplified . Mothership 1e generally calls for a "full fat" experience with Health and damage rolls, but set damage with only to-hit rolls is a powerful tool for Panic Engine developers.
